Plants for the Future is looking for its next Research and Communication Officer

Mission and vision of Plant ETP
Plants for the Future ETP (Plant ETP) is a multistakeholder platform, including seed and breeding industry, farmers and academia, and representing the plant sector from fundamental research to crop production and distribution. Our vision is to promote the flow of innovation from basic research to the market for the benefit of society. Our missions are to:
- Provide strategic direction for the Research & Innovation needs of the plant sector, by co-developing a vision for future agri-food systems
- Promote science-based policymaking, by interfacing with EU institutions
- Increase the awareness and appreciation of plant sciences and breeding in our agri-food systems, by communicating and engaging with stakeholders and society
Your role
Sustainability, competitiveness and resilience call for urgent changes in our agri-food systems. Plant ETP contributes as an agile interface between science and policy. The Officer’s activities will mainly focus on communication and outreach around topics that can make a difference. This includes impacts from plant sciences and breeding techniques, up to agri-food production systems. The Officer will work side-by-side with the Executive Manager and support him in the daily management of the platform and will take the leading role in research projects in which the platform is involved (e.g. Horizon Europe).
Desired Profile
- A background in either biological sciences or communication (e.g. social media, website management), with a strong interest in the other field. Familiarity with EU policy related to agri-food systems would be an advantage
- Fluency in English (written and oral); knowledge of French or Dutch would be an advantage
- Proficiency in design platforms such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or equivalent tools is required to support visual content creation and layout design
- Demonstrate excellent drafting and communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills and capacity to juggle several topics and activities at the same time
- Experience in event organization would be an advantage
