Plant ETP General Assembly 2025

The 2025 edition of the Plant ETP General Assembly took place on the 10th and 11th of June at CRAG (Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics) in Barcelona. This year’s edition combined our internal General Assembly with an open Symposium and Brokerage Event, bringing together Plant ETP members and researchers from CRAG and other universities.

10th of June – General Assembly

The closed part of the General Assembly was held on the morning of the 10th, gathering representatives from our direct membership to discuss the platform’s activities and strategic direction. Among other agenda items, we were delighted to approve a new full member: Aarhus University!

The GA concluded with a guided visit of CRAG, offering participants insights into the centre’s cutting-edge plant research. In the evening, members enjoyed a group dinner in central Barcelona, offering a moment to connect informally and enjoy the local food.

11th of June – Symposium & Brokerage Event

The second day opened with a symposium highlighting both Plant ETP members and CRAG researchers. The session included:

  • CRAG-led talks on gene expression, plant-microbe interactions, metabolic engineering, and drought resistance.
  • Industry and academic contributions from our members: Vilmorin & Cie, KeyGene, Euroseeds, BASF, University of Padua, and KWS.
  • A career paths panel discussion, offering diverse perspectives for early-career plant scientists.

After lunch, the Brokerage Event focused on fostering collaborations and future project building:

  • Presentations on Horizon Europe opportunities and funding schemes such as Plant2Food and BIOVEGEN.
  • Project showcases included:
    • Legume Generation and PRO-GRACE
    • GeneBEcon (gene editing for a sustainable bioeconomy)
    • Virtigation, pest management tools, and genome editing in agrifood
  • A poster session featured 10 posters from CRAG and partner institutions, covering research from rhizosphere dynamics to thermomorphogenesis and genomic innovation in potatoes and apples.

The day concluded with a networking session, where CRAG researchers and Plant ETP members had the chance to connect and discuss.
