Key themes included climate-resilient crops, plant breeding, biotechnology, genetic resources and protein crops, as well as the need to bridge the gap between research and on-farm adoption. Participants also highlighted the importance of accelerating the deployment of innovation through supportive regulation, targeted investment and stronger collaboration across the value chain.

For Plant ETP, the conference reinforced the central role of plant science and breeding in addressing climate, sustainability and competitiveness challenges. Ensuring that research results are effectively translated into practical solutions for farmers will be essential for building a resilient and future-ready European agri-food system.

The discussions will help shape future EU research and innovation priorities under the AgRI 2040 and Food 2040 agendas.
