Kick off meeting – COLiBRI project
Partners from across Europe gathered in Berlin for the kick-off meeting of COLiBRI – Collaborative Crop Breeding Research and Innovation for a Green Europe, a new Horizon Europe project dedicated to strengthening coordination and collaboration in European crop breeding research and innovation.
Over two days, project partners exchanged ideas, presented planned activities, and discussed how COLiBRI can support a more connected and effective European crop breeding landscape. Bringing together researchers, breeders, farmers, policymakers, funders, and other stakeholders, the project aims to foster dialogue and identify future priorities for plant breeding research and innovation.
Over the next 30 months, COLiBRI will work closely with stakeholders across Europe to explore emerging challenges and opportunities, helping to align research efforts and investments with Europe’s sustainability, climate, and food security goals.
A central outcome of the project will be the development of a European Plant Breeding Research and Innovation Roadmap, providing a shared vision and strategic direction for future research and innovation activities.
A highlight of the meeting was the interactive workshop on stakeholder engagement and network development, where partners explored how plant breeding research and innovation can contribute to Europe’s current and future policy objectives. These discussions marked an important first step towards building the roadmap and long-term vision for the sector.
The Berlin kick-off meeting laid the foundation for a strong and collaborative partnership. We thank all project partners for their enthusiasm and engagement and look forward to working together to shape the future of crop breeding innovation in Europe.
We are very proud to be part of such a great consortium and to contribute to the COLiBRI project. We look forward to working closely with our partners, seeing the project develop over the coming months, and helping to shape the future of plant breeding research and innovation in Europe. 🌱
